Using Patterned Paper and a Sketch: Maraiah Crystal Designs

I have just joined the Maraiah Crystal Design Team. I am very excited about this new team and the fun things she has in store to add to the crafting community.

My card for today uses a ton of this lovely patterned paper that was sent to me. I started by finding a sketch I liked that I thought would work well with the paper.

Sometimes sketches can be hard to use if they dont have measurements on them but it can also be a great way to change them up. Just because a sketch is one way doesnt mean you have to make it completely the same. Use some creative licence. I decided on demensions of 3 x 4.5in and 2 x 3in for my square elements. The circle is 2.25in. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink to give it that old vintage feel and that way I didnt have to add paper behind for layers.

wpid-20150822_140123-1.jpgI wanted to heat emboss on the circle with my Hero Arts Small Closed Flower stamp. Now this stamp is on cling and I cant see through it. The first time I stamped off and it didnt look very good. So the next time I left the stamp face up. Inked it with the Versamark and laid my circle on top and just rubbed  it with my fingers. Like you can see in the picture.

imageIMG_0875I used my patterned paper for every element. As you can see in this picture I heat embossed the flower on the patterned paper. And in the finished one I inked it with Dusty Concord Distress Ink to tie in the purple from the purple flower. Even the sentiment was stamped on a scrap of patterned paper. I also heat embossed it.

Hope you enjoyed my little tip and my card. Also please check out Maraiah Crystal Designs. She makes some great looking cards as well.
